The Hotel Situated on a magnificent beach on the east coast a few hundred yards from the village of Trou d'Eau Douce and opposite Ile aux Cerfs, le Tropical, a human-sized place, is full of friendliness and Mauritian smiles for family relaxation on the edge of a dream lagoon. Guests, many of them regulars, meet at the bar or on the terrace of the main restaurant. Sipping a refreshing cocktail here and watching the sun go down feels good, as night slowly takes over the horizon.

Lunch The hotel offer buffet, set menus and choice of French baguettes.from12h15 to 14h30, A picnic hamper: reserved for guests who wish to go on tour (please allow 24 hour notice). The hamper can be ordered at the Restaurant or bar.”

Dinner Every night, from 19h30 to 21h30 the restaurant hosts various theme evenings which alternate between a full buffet and a three course table d’hôte, with a choice for each course. Once a week, a five course gala dinner is served. Unlimited tea and coffee are available throughout the day, either at the bar or at the restaurant. For all ‘à la carte’ dinners and for promotional dinners, a supplement will be required.

DRINKS Guests can enjoy the following drinks at the bar, which operates from 11h00 to 23h30 (last order) daily or at the restaurant during its opening hours except at breakfast: House spirits which are bottled locally (rum, gin, vodka, scotch, brandy), local beers, cocktails, fruit juices, minerals and soft drinks. A selection of house wines is also offered at meal times. However, all imported beverages and full wine bottled not included and will be charged to the guest own account at prevailing prices. N.B. Drinks included in the package are for personal consumption only and must be ordered one at a time. Any drink offered to an outsider will be charged to the guest's account, at fixed price.

IMPORTANT The All-Inclusive Package at Tropical commences at noon on the day of your arrival at the hotel and finishes at noon on the day of your departure. Therefore, any food or drink consumption made after that time will be charged to the guest’s account at prevailing prices and must be settled in full prior to departure. The items from the mini-bar are included in the All-Inclusive package.

Accommodation The 58 main rooms are decorated in local style, and comfortably arranged with large beds. Each room has a balcony or terrace, looking out directly over the beach and the lagoon. There are also 2 larger family rooms, set back slightly for added privacy but still close to the beach. Their terraces overlook the garden and its lush, tropical plants.

Restaurants

Le Cocotier The restaurant is light and airy, looking out directly onto the lagoon on one side and onto the swimming pool from the other. Guests enjoy a wide choice of cuisine, including European, Chinese, Indian and Mauritian specialities.

La Canne à Sucre The bar runs alongside the swimming pool and its comfortable armchairs make it the ideal place to sip a selection of exotic cocktails, the bar’s speciality.

Entertainment A local band entertains guests and, once a week, there is a special Sega show, when visitors can discover the music and rhythms traditional to Mauritius in a flamboyant whirl of sound and colour.

Facilities

Sports and Leisure Le Tropical has a freshwater swimming pool, suitable for adults and youngsters, behind the restaurant and next to the bar, with sunloungers for relaxing. Sunloungers are also laid out on the grass under the coconut palms on the beach.

Water Sports Free of charge: windsurfing, pedal boats, sailing dinghies, kayaks, glass-bottom boat trips and snorkelling. For a fee: speedboat rides, big game fishing and small game fishing.

Land-based Activities Free of charge: petanque, volleyball, table tennis and darts.

There are also additional facilities available next to the hotel: Deep-sea fishing, Diving Centre, Horse riding, Water-skiing at Ile aux Cerfs.
