The Hotel
The Maritim Hotel lies on a 25 hectare private estate known as Balaclava along Turtle Bay (between Port Louis and Grand Baie) on the north-west coast of Mauritius, which is the sunniest region of Mauritius. The distance to the airport is 60km (45 min) and to Port Louis 12km (15 min). New trunk roads provide easy access to the Maritim Hotel. The 'Balaclava' Estate is a historical estate dating back to the 18th century, with a fascinating natural scenery from Mauritius. On the northern border flows Rivière Citron, over dams and cascades into a shallow lagoon flanked by lush tropical vegetation of Mauritius. Mysterious ruins, remain to be explored as witnesses of the colonial times. Walkways and footpaths allow for long walks through the luxuriant garden of the estate with its magnificent views over the most picturesque mountain range in Mauritius. 'Turtle Bay' is the first Marine National Park in Mauritius with well preserved underwater life. There are excellent snorkeling grounds right off the beach. The white sandy beach in front of the hotel is about 500m long and protected by a coral reef. The bay provides excellent conditions for all kind of water sports.

All 180 rooms are in the 2 wings stretching from the main building in a slightly elevated position overlooking the bay. All rooms have a magnificent sea view! Main Restaurant: 490 Sqm Thatched terrace split level restaurant. Excellent views. 260 covers. Breakfast: Buffet with an extensive selection of hot and cold dishes. Dinner 3 - 4 times weekly different buffets or barbecues. On the other days, table d'hote menus with several choices for the various courses. Vegetarian meals available.

Mon Desir
Gourmet Restaurant: Monday - Saturday, evenings only. A la carte restaurant of the highest standard; international delicacies; air-conditioned, 50 covers. Guests on half board tariffs receive a credit of Rs. 400 each.

La Maree
Beach Restaurant open 4 evenings per week. Seafood specialties and other grillades. Live music. Beach Bar: Lunch: A selection from the grill and 'plat du jour' lunch.

The Bars

Quarter Deck
Main seafront bar with incredible view over the whole bay. Distinct 'maritime' atmosphere. Daily Snack menu. Happy Hour: Monday - Saturday from 17.00 to 19.00 hours with live music and drinks at half price. Pool Lounge: Over-looking the pool, comfortable and relaxing. Afternoon tea with home-made pastries; fresh crepes.

Facilities
Maritim Hotel Mauritius offer the most extensive variety of sports facilities. Daily activities include games and competitions such as beach-volley, pétanque, table-tennis, water polo and football. Except where otherwise specified, all sports and use of sports equipment are free of charge for guests.

Golf
The Maritim hosts a 9-hole Par 29 golf course designed by Graham Marsh and our Golf Pro. Each hole can be played from two different tees and there is a driving range and putting green also available for you to hone your skills when you are not on the fairways. The Golf Pro is available for individual lessons, beginners and advanced courses. There is no green fee for residents. Clubs can be hired and the course is available daily from 08.00 - 18.00 hrs. No green fee for residents.

Gym
Located next to the pool and adjacent to the Wellness Centre, the gym is spread across 150 sqm. This air-conditioned fitness area is equipped with a selection of modern fitness equipment. The gym is available daily from 08.00 - 22.00 hrs.

Horse Riding
Open from Monday to Friday 09.00 - 15.00 hrs, the stables and the corral are located in the upper part of the Hotel grounds. There 8-12 horses and ponies. Lessons in the corral can be booked by residents.

Tennis and Land Sports
3 Floodlit Tennis Courts. If you are interested in tennis you will have the opportunity to hone your skills in tropical climes on our private courts. Rackets are also available from the Hotel should you leave yours at home!

The Spa
FU SUI AN meaning 'Wind', Water and Simple pavillion thatch' is a Japanese style self-contained modern complex. It comprises sauna & steam bath, cold plunge, power shower and an outdoor relaxation area.The Health & Beauty Centre is open daily from 08.00 - 22.00 hrs. Also at your disposal during your stay are hairdresser, beautician, massage, pedicure and manicure services. (These services including The Spa may not be free of charge)

Water Sports
The boat house is open daily 09.30 - 17.00 hrs. It is fully equipped for all kinds of water sports. They are all free of charge to guests and are not subject to any time limits. Collective lessons for skiing and windsurfing are also free. Additional water sports include: Sailing (Hobie-cats & Lasers), Canoeing, Pedalcrafts, Glass-bottom boat trips. Diving Centre is also equipped to take 10 divers on 2 dives per day. Equipment available includes tanks, regulators, masks, snorkels, fins, weight belts, wet suits and stabilising jackets.

This is also available directly from the Hotel jetty. The sessions are available in booking slots of 15 mins each for a small fee.

Kids Club. The Turtle Club
Open daily from 09.00 - 16.00 hrs, the Turtle Club is a small house consisting of a game / TV room, kitchen, toilets and a verandah where hostesses take care of children from 3-12 years old. The facility includes games, toys, children's' videos, a children's playground and daily children's program. Also available is the children's dinner with a special menu at 18.00 hrs.
